Episode 190: The Crew’s sidestepping the cracks in the sidewalk as they discuss, As Good As It Gets. It’s a fun, feel good romantic comedy with a main character who is a complete jerk. But he’s really a teddy bear. Yes, that sounds like loads of romantic comedies, but the writing and acting elevate this to something really special. The character’s motivations make sense and the three leads all have full character arcs. The film was a box-office hit (grossing $148 million) during Titanic’s historic box-office run. It was nominated for 7 Academy Awards, winning 2 for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Episode 188: The Crew’s discussing Star Wars – Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It’s the last film of the prequel trilogy and the last Star Wars film George Lucas wrote & directed. And Mr. Lucas does up his game; the action scenes are more exciting, the dialogue isn’t as wooden, and some of the actors look like they’re having fun. The return of Darth Vader in the marketing helped make this the second highest-grossing Star Wars film at the time. But the Crew is a little disappointed with Vader’s reason for turning to the dark side… they discuss.

Episode 187: The Crew’s discussing Star Wars – Episode II: Attack of the Clones. It’s Star Wars, but it’s not a good film. The horrible dialogue and performances hold the film back, especially in the romantic subplot. The overall plot is confusing and makes all the Jedi look stupid. And this is the lowest grossing Star Wars film in the saga; adjusted for inflation. But the Crew does find some good things to say.

Episode 186: The Crew’s discussing one of the most overhyped films of all-time, Star Wars – Episode I: The Phantom Menace. In the summer of 1999 everyone was excited for Star Wars, and Episode One was the second highest grossing film at the time. Flash forward to today, and most fans consider it the worst installment in the franchise. Story and acting issues aside, there is a lot to love here. The pod race is jaw dropping and the climatic lightsaber battle is truly incredible. The Crew is heavily divided on this film.

Correction: Episode One’s budget was $115 million, not $65 million (that was the opening weekend box-office $). Sorry for the mistake.
